On the Specter of Alternative Politics
My recent discussion with C Derick Varn is up on his YouTube channel, relating to my three-part series on Alternative Politics. I’ve known Varn since around 2006 and we have a somewhat interesting history as having both come from outside of the left originally, in his case with paleo-conservatism and in my case libertarianism. We discuss the similarities between the Ron Paul, Bernie Sanders and Trump campaigns, the libertarian prehistory to the alt right, the flaws and limits of populism and syncretism, the problems with electoral politics in the current environment, etc.
